Junior Developer

ReStart Consulting is a healthcare services organisation with a singular focus on delivering exceptional products and services to the NHS and healthcare system providers. Our team is composed of professionals who bring extensive experience within the NHS, ensuring that our solutions are tailored to meet the unique needs of the healthcare sector.

Our deep understanding of the NHS, combined with our commitment to improving patient care, positions us as a trusted partner for healthcare providers. At ReStart Consulting, we’re not just providing services - we’re reshaping healthcare delivery for the better.

ReStart is excited to announce a new opening for a Junior Developer in our expanding Data Migration department. This role, based in our Exeter office, is perfect for a Graduate or Junior Developer eager to become a key team member in our department.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will likely hold a 2.1 or a First in Computer Science or a related field and have a passion for data. While commercial experience in software development and data transformations using SQL is beneficial, it’s not a prerequisite. We value a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent communication skills, and above all, a passion for data. Full training along with mentorship and a structured career path will be provided.

In this role, you’ll support senior data migration consultants, helping to understand and code data transferred from existing NHS Trust systems to new EPR (Electronic Patient Record) systems. You’ll work closely with senior ReStart staff, third-party system providers, and NHS clinical staff, witnessing first-hand how our work impacts patients and patient care. This role is both technical and client-facing.

You’ll also have the opportunity to delve into data analytics, interpreting NHS data to identify trends and patterns. This information will be used to create data models, which in turn will be used to develop insightful dashboards for hospital trusts, aiding in efficiency and patient care.

The role is primarily located in our Exeter office, however, for more complex projects, occasional visits to customer sites may be necessary. We welcome applications from local candidates or those willing to relocate to Exeter. After a successful probation period there is the option of working a mixed home / office routine.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in a team environment.
  • Take ownership of tasks assigned by Senior Data Migration Consultant/Project Manager and provide timely progress updates.
  • Migrate NHS level data from client legacy applications and/or existing platforms to the new Trust chosen system offering.

  • Create and validate load files, extract, transform, and load data.
  • Prepare and load data files and configure any portions of a solution as instructed.
  • Interpret specification documents provided by third-party providers for use in allocated tasks.
  • Perform data reconciliation tasks, liaising with technical specialists if required.
  • Ensure that allocated data migration work is completed within established time scales and attend project meetings with the Trust to discuss progress and critical issues.
