Junior Software Developer - Exeter

ReStart is the UK’s leading healthcare integration company based in Exeter, Devon. Due to continued growth, we are looking for additional Junior Software Developers. The company is dedicated to software development, implementation and consultancy within the Healthcare sector with clients across the UK. The role is office based in Exeter and ideal for a Graduate or Junior Developer looking to work as a key member of our team working within a development and consultancy environment.

The successful candidate is likely to hold a 2.1 or 1.1 in Computer Science or similar subject and have a passion for technology. Commercial experience within software development would be advantageous but not a prerequisite. You will be supported with full training.

The Software Developer will work within the development & operations team and will be responsible for jointly delivering a wide range of projects. These developments will include middleware systems, web portal front end systems and database systems.

As well as the development of systems, the Software Developer will also be responsible for following the company development processes including management of source control, software testing and software release processes.

The postholder will be required to communicate with other Developers in the team, Project Managers and Engineers and where necessary will need to work with customers to agree specifications.

The position will be Exeter office based but customer site visits may be required from time to time for larger more complex developments.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Communicate with Senior Developers and Project Managers to ensure the scope of the project is fully understood.
  • Update Operations / Delivery Manager of project statuses, providing timely feedback on progress of developments.
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of agreed development projects and ensure all developments are delivered to agreed timescales.
  • Communicate with Senior Developers and Software Testers to ensure efficient testing of all developments.
  • Work directly with Product managers and Senior Developers to ensure all developments are delivered in scope of the project.
  • Provide development support to our operational support team, this could involve ad-hoc fixes, investigation of complex integration messaging issues, on-call operational support.
